Start low, go slow
GLP-1 medications are almost always started at a low dose and increased gradually. This "titration" gives your body time to adjust and keeps side effects — most commonly nausea — manageable. Follow your provider's schedule rather than rushing to a higher dose.
Manage side effects
Mild nausea, fullness, or digestive changes are common early on and usually fade. Smaller meals, staying hydrated, and easing back on very fatty foods tend to help. Report anything severe or persistent to your provider — that's exactly what the ongoing support in a good program is for.
Protein, movement, and muscle
Because GLP-1s reduce appetite, it's easy to under-eat protein. Prioritizing protein and adding some resistance or strength activity helps protect muscle while you lose fat — which matters for keeping the weight off later.
Think long-term
Weight tends to return if treatment simply stops without a plan. The programs that get the best long-term results pair medication with coaching and habit change, and work with you on what maintenance looks like. When comparing programs, weigh the support they offer as heavily as the price.
